Rights, Responsibilities and Commitments of Volunteers

  • Right to a Safe Working Environment: Volunteers are entitled to a safe working environment, in compliance with current health and safety standards.

 

  • Right to Training: All volunteers are entitled to initial and ongoing training to ensure that they are well prepared for their responsibilities and missions.

 

  • Right to confidentiality: Volunteers must respect the confidentiality of information to which they have access in the course of their activities, and the organization must guarantee that their personal information is protected.

 

  • Right to Refuse an Assignment: Volunteers have the right to refuse a task or assignment which they consider inappropriate, too demanding or which does not correspond to their skills.

 

  • Freedom of Expression: Volunteers are free to express any concerns or suggestions they may have, without fear of reprisal.

 

  • Respect for Values: Volunteers undertake to respect the organization's values, to treat others with respect and to contribute to a harmonious work environment.

 

  • Responsibility in the Accomplishment of Missions: Volunteers undertake to respect the missions entrusted to them, to carry out their work in a responsible manner and to respect the environment.

Rights, Responsibilities and Commitments of the Organization

The organisation has rights and responsibilities towards volunteers:

 

  • The Right to Manage Volunteers: The organisation has the right to manage and supervise its volunteers in a way that ensures the quality and safety of its activities.

 

  • Responsibility to Provide a Safe Working Environment: The organisation must take all necessary measures to ensure a safe working environment and comply with current safety standards.

 

  • Duty to Train and Support: The organisation shall provide volunteers with initial training and adequate resources to carry out their duties.

 

  • Responsibility to Honour Commitments: The organisation must honour commitments made to volunteers regarding working conditions, training and safety.

 

  • Welcoming and Integrating: Each volunteer is welcomed with respect and given a full introduction to their role and the organisation.

 

  • Follow-Up and Evaluation: The organisation will follow up with volunteers to ensure that their assignments are going well and to offer support if needed.

 

  • Support in Case of Difficulties: If a volunteer encounters a problem or difficulty in their placement, the organisation is committed to offering support and finding a solution.

Conflict Resolution Process

In the event of a conflict or problem with a volunteer, the organization establishes clear procedures for conflict resolution:

 

  • Listening and mediation: If a conflict arises, a first step is to listen to the parties involved and seek an amicable solution.

  • Setting up mediation: If necessary, mediation can be arranged to resolve the dispute.
